Más informaciónI was really tired of bouncing from tutorial to tutorial on YouTube that weren't getting me anywhere. Sure, I could replicate what the "instructor" said, but I was actually learning very little. These courses are definitely the solution because the lessons are connected to each other, the content has a clear structure, and it's all aimed at a specific goal: building a complete videogame.

Más informaciónThe course has considerable length and teaches you the fundamentals of creating a scene, decorating it, and focuses on creating a 2D Pokémon game, detailing everything from the 2D game menu, through levels, characters, mechanics, script programming, until the character dies and the game ends. I really liked it—super complete, especially if you're into retro 2D games from the 80s.

Más informaciónThe truth is it's a course I've absolutely loved. I'm a computer engineer, but I'd never touched Unity before, so the programming part at the start, even though I did it, was familiar territory. But it's important to learn how other professionals work to improve and spot your own bad habits. Once we got into the Unity part itself, brilliant. The 2D game is a lot of fun. I ran into a few hiccups, but nothing Juan Gabriel couldn't help me sort out. The 3D game, even though it seemed harder on paper, actually cost me less effort, though I'll admit the design side weighs more and I recognize that's one of my big weak spots. Funny enough, there's a maths section that I genuinely understood really well. I'll admit that at uni the algebra, calculus and statistics parts were rough for me, but like I say, this time it clicked (Juan Gabriel could've been my professor haha—and seriously, I've got a few of his courses, some started, some not, and through him I've discovered maths isn't as scary as I thought, and it's shown me my gaps but also how keen I am to make up for lost time). What I really liked about the course is that with both games, they leave the door wide open for you to add your own improvements (for example: creating more platforms for the 2D game or random behaviours for the coins in the 3D one). If you genuinely enjoyed it, I'm telling you, you'll be itching to add those improvements. About the teacher I'll say two things. First, he's really attentive and friendly. He answers questions fast (he even replied to me on a Sunday). The other is his teaching style. He explains things clearly and concisely, but nothing stiff about it—he tells it to you like he's an old mate of yours helping you out when you're stuck on a problem. I personally prefer that way of teaching over one that could stress you out. Bottom line, a really good course to get started in this world, and it leaves you wanting to do more.
